About O2A

Occupy the 2nd Amendment is a weblog project by Ross Eliot, editor and publisher of American Gun Culture Report from 2005-2010 and author of the 2014 Rainbow Award winning book, Babette: The Many Lives, Two Deaths and Double Kidnapping of Dr. Ellsworth.

While AGCR was a collaborative print periodical bringing together multitudes of perspectives, O2A synthesizes information in the fast changing world of firearm politics based on Eliot’s years of experience advocating for leftist causes combined with 2nd Amendment activism. Might: It’s still not just for the Right.

A left leaning friend of mine posted this on their FB page. As a conservative, I cannot understand the left’s opposition to the 2A. I view the 2A as the pre-existing right which protects all the others. Both the right and left need to maintain a healthy level of suspect of the feds and those who rule. Just because “your guy” (insert GOP or DEM) is in control of the WH, Senate, House, etc… doesn’t mean they have your best liberties in mind.

You’re not along out there. I’ve read a few commentaries such as yours from the left on the individual’s right to bear arms:
